Pitch: The Best Way to Reheat Leftover Pizza

The Best Way to Reheat Leftover Pizza

Best Way to Reheat Leftover Pizza

I don't usually use the word "best". It sounds arrogant and I'm always open to the possibility that there might be a better way to do things. I'm open-minded that way. Give me a well-reasoned explanation for your perspective and I might very well change my mind.

Except on climate change. That shit is settled.

At any rate, this is the best way to reheat pizza and I've tried all the usual methods including:

Microwave—dries out crust and makes it taste and chew like the cardboard it came it.

Oven—long wait for it to heat up and the crust gets soggy.

Skip it altogether—it's not even the cold congealed cheese that gets me, it's the chilly red sauce. Shudder.

Stovetop and a big fry pan are the way to go:

Heat a heavy skillet over medium-high heat.

Add a bit of olive oil.

Add pizza slice(s) and turn down heat to medium-low. Wiggle pan a bit for 3-4 minutes and cover near the end to melt the cheese on top.

And there you have it. Pizza crust rejuvenation. Crisp where you want it (bottom) and soft where it's appreciated (on the handle). Nearly as good as the moment it was originally lifted from the box (and maybe better if crisp crust is your preference). The best way to reheat pizza, for now...until someone convinces me otherwise.
